Precuneus

The precuneus is a part of the parietal  lobe that is responsible for self-consciousness, episodic memory and higher-order cognitive functions. It is located inside the cerebral hemispheres in front of the cuneus. Due to its location, the precuneus is not studied extensively. The precuneus forms reciprocal connections with parts of the cortex and thalamus. Most of the connections are with the frontal lobe.
