Video Overview
The sixth lunar month is referred to as the "deity month" in Rebgong. Each village’s Luru Festival date is different. As for these two villages, the twentieth day of the sixth lunar month is the first day of Luru, the toklha setting-up day. A toklha is a flagpole which is installed prior to the actual Luru Festival by the upper and lower villagers together at the Luru performance ground. On top of one flagpole, a special grass is tied and on another hangs a small special thangka. In Ritsa village, there are four families (Tsüntargyel, Nyingjamgyel, Lama, and Tsidung) who are entitled to set up the toklha. These families haven't changed through the ages, and the reason why these particular families are chosen is unclear.
