In Tamang culture, it is necessary to make an offering to the gods and dakinis before eating a meal. The food offered should be pure and water should spilt over the clean food before offering it to the dakinis. According to Lal Bdr, this tradition dates to the time of Buddha. Its origins are said to stem from when demons were eating human beings. The gods stopped them and people were told to make food offerings to the beings before they consume a meal.

 

སྔོན་ལས་ བཞེས་སྒོ་མ་བཟའ་བའི་ཧེ་མ་ རང་གིས་བཞེས་སྒོ་འདི་ ལྷ་དང་མཁའ་འགྲོ་བདེ་ལྔ་ལུ་ ཕུལ་དོ་ཡོདཔ་ཨིན་མས། འདི་ཡང་  བལྟ་མངས་ཀྱིས་ལུགས་སྲོལ་ན་ལུ་ འབད་དོ་ཡོདཔ་ཨིན་མས། བཞེས་སྒོ་འདི་ཡང་ ཁམས་ལོག་སི་སི་མ་བཟོ་བ་ གཙང་ཏོག་ཏོ་འབད་ བཞེས་སྒོ་བལྟ་ལས་ ཆུ་གཏོར་ཞིནམ་ལས་ གཙང་ཏོག་ཏོ་འབད་ མཁའ་འགྲོ་བདེ་ལྔ་ལུ་ ཕུལ་དགོཔ་ཨིན་མས། ལལ་བདུར་གྱིས་ སླབ་དོ་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ ལམ་སྲོལ་འདི་བཟུམ་འདི་ སངས་རྒྱས་བྱོན་པའི་སྐབས་ ལམ་སྲོལ་འདི་ཡང་མཛད་གནང་ནུག།  ཧེ་མ་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ འདྲེ་ཚུ་གིས་ བཞེས་སྒོ་འབད་ མི་ཤ་ཚུ་ བཟའ་དོ་ཡོདཔ་ལས་བརྟེན་ ད་ལྟོ་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ འདི་ཚུ་བཀག་ནི་དོན་ལུ་ མི་ཚུ་གིས་ བཞེས་སྒོ་མ་འདྲཝ་ལེ་ཤ་བཟོ་འདི་ གནས་བདའ་ཚུ་ལུ་ ཕུལ་དོ་ཡོདཔ་ཨིན་མས།

  • ལལ་བཱ་དུར
    While eating food, we make offering of food by making it in fist shaped of two pieces with curry along in paper or a plate. It should be not dirtied one but a pure one. However it is going to be the cooked by us only. And we spilt water over it to purify and we are not suppose to eat before doing so. The reason behind for doing so is this is made for Dakini.
    ང་བཅས་ཀྱི་ལྟོ་བཏའཝ་ད་ལུ་ཨ་ཁམ་གཉིས་ཧིང་གསང་ས་ལེགས་ཤོམ་དེ་ལས་ཚོདམ་ ལེགས་ཤོམ་ཟེར་སླབ་ད་རང་གི་མ་བཟའཝ་འདི་ཤོ་གུ་གཅིག་གུ་བླུག་ཡང་ན་ཡོད་པ་ཅིན་པད་སྡེར་ནང་ལུ་འབད་ལྟོ་ཨ་ཁམ་གཉིས་བཞགས་དགོ་འབད། དེ་ལས་འདི་བཞགས་འདི་ཆུ་གི་འབད་ཁྱབ་དྲོན་འབད་དགོ་འབད་ འདི་ག་ཅི་སྦེ་འབདཝ་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་འ་ནི་འདི་ཧིང་གསངས་ས་བཟོཝ་ཨིན་མས་ལེགས་ཤོམ་འགྱོ་ནི་དོན་ལུ་ ཏེ་འདི་མ་འབད་བ་ཅིན་མི་བཟའ་ལོ། འདི་ག་ཅིག་ལུ་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་མཁའ་སྒྲོམོ་འདི་ཚུ་ལུ་ཨིན་མས།
  • ལལ་བཱ་དུར Lal Bdr
    Long before, in the times of God, Dakini was one female demon who had 300 sons. Per day she ate one people each making curry for herself. For Buddha, it was so disturbing and sad thing. He had no solution left. And Buddha thought of hiding the youngest son of her and he did so as to find solution.
    མཁའ་སྒྲོམ་འདི་ག་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ཧེ་མ་ལྷ་འདི་ཚུ་གི་སྐབས་ལུ་དུད་ཨིན་མས་ དུད་འདི་གི་བུ་གསུམ་བརྒྱ་ཡོདཔ་མས་ཏེ་ཁོ་བུ་གསུམ་བརྒྱ་འདི་ལུ་ཉི་མ་རེ་ལུ་ག་ཅིག་རང་འབདཝ་སྨོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ དུད་འདི་གི་མི་རེ་བཟའ་དོ་ཡོད་མས་མོ་གི་ཚོདམ་བཟོ་འབད་མནོཝ་ད། ཏེ་འ་ནི་འབད་བཟའ་ས་མཐོང་འདི་ སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ཨ་འེ་གནའ་མེད་ས་མེད་སེམས་སྐྱོ་ནུག་ལོ་ དེ་ལས་ག་ཅིག་འབད་རུང་མ་བཏུབ་འབད་ལེ་སེམས་སྐྱོ་འདི་ ཏེ་དེ་ལས་མོ་གི་བུ་གསུམ་བརྒྱ་ནང་ལས་ཆུང་ཤོས་འདི་གཡིབ་བཞགས་དགོ་འབད་མནོ་གཡིབ་བཞགས་ད་ནུག
  • ལལ་བཱ་དུར Lal Bdr
    He hid the youngest in the place where no one can reach for. She looked for her son two days but could not find. And she thought it’s been two days, maybe he is no more living and thought of asking Buddha and went to his place.
    ག་གི་ཡང་མ་མཐོངམ་ག་ཡང་མ་ལྷོད་ས་གཡིབ་བཞགས་ད་ནུག་ དེ་ལས་གཡིབ་བཞགས་ད་པའི་གང་ལས་མོ་གི་ཉི་མ་གཉིས་ག་དེམ་ཅིག་འཚོལ་རུང་མ་འཐོབ་འབད་ ད་ག་དེ་འབད་རུང་མི་བཏུབ་འབད་ངེ་བུ་འདི་ཡང་ན་ཤི་སོངམ་མས་ཉི་མ་གཉིས་ཡར་སོངའི་ འཚོལ་མི་འཐོབ་འབད་ཟེར་ག་ཅིག་ཡང་འབད་མ་ཤེསཔ་ད། ད་སངས་རྒྱས་ལུ་རང་འདྲི་དགོ་པས་མནོ་འདི་སངས་རྒྱས་བཞུགས་ས་སོང་འབད་འདྲི་ནུག་ལོ།
  • ལལ་བཱ་དུར Lal Bdr
    She asked Buddha about this and when asked Buddha said “you may get him back or you may not. I will try looking for him” with this he showed little bit of hope to her. Of having shown the little hope, she came every now and then to him asking for finding her son and this went for several times. And on the morning of third day Buddha said “I may find him” and after that she came to his after every hour.
    དེ་ལས་འདྲིཝ་ད་ལུ་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་གསུངས་ནུག་ལོ་ ད་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་བུ་འདི་འཐོབ་ཡང་འོང་མི་འཐོབ་ཡང་འོང་ དེ་འབདཝ་ད་ང་འཚོལ་བལྟ་གེ་ཟེར་གསུང་འབད་བརྡ་གཅིག་ལྟོན་ནུག ཏེ་དེ་ལས་བརྡ་གཅིག་ལྟོན་ནི་འདི་གི་མོ་འཁྲེལ་འཁྲེལ་འོང་འདྲིའི་འདྲིའི་སྡོན་ནུག་ དེ་སྦེ་འབདའི་འབདའི་སྡོད་པའི་ཉི་མ་གསུམ་གི་དྲོཔ་འདི་ དྲོཔ་ཧ་གསག་འོང་པའི་སྐབས་འཐོབ་ནི་བཟུམ་འབད་དོ་ཟེར་གསུངས་ནུག་ དེ་ལས་འདི་ཨ་རྟག་རང་ཆུ་ཚོད་རེ་ཆུ་ཚོད་རེ་བར་ན་འོང་ནུག་ལོ།

    Buddha said “I will look for him but will you listen to me. If not I cannot do a favor for you.” and she said “Please find him. I will listen to whatever you may say. If you can find, I will do according to your say”
    དེ་ལས་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ད་ང་གི་སླབས་མི་ལུ་ཉན་འོང་ག་ཟེར་ནུག་ ཏེ་མ་ཉན་པ་ཅིན་འདི་ང་འཚོལ་མི་ཚུགས་ད་སངས་རྒྱས་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་ང་ལུ་བཀའ་དྲིན་བསྐྱང་གནང་ན་གི་ག་ཅི་གསུངམ་ཅིག་ ང་གི་ཉན་ནི་ཨིན་ག་དེ་འབད་རུང་ང་གི་བུ་འཚོལ་བྱིན་པ་ཅིན་ ག་ཅི་སླབ་ཅིག་ང་ཉན་ནི་ཟེར་ནུག ཉན་ནི་ན་ཉན་ནི་ ཐེ་རེ་བ་རེ་ཉན་ནི་ཉན་ནི་ ཐེ་རེ་བ་རེ་ཉན་ནི་ཉན་ནི་ ཐེ་རེ་བ་རེ་ཉན་ནི་ཉན་ནི་ཟེར་ནུག
    Buddha asked “Are you sure?” she said yes.

    In those days, promises were made for three times. After that nothing is left to do. And Buddha said “well then, you should leave eating people” “then what should I eat. If it is the case, then I cannot do.” She answered.
    དང་ཕུག་གི་དུས་ལུ་འབད་ཅིན་བློ་གཏད་འདི་ག་དེ་འབད་ཡོད་དགོ་ཟེར་བ་ཅིན་ བློ་ག་ཅིག་རང་འབད་རུང་ཚར་གསུམ་སླབ་པའི་གང་ལས་ གཞན་ག་ནི་ཡང་བློ་རྒྱུ་མེད་ལོ། དེ་ལས་ཉི་མ་གསུམ་པམ་ན་དདེ་སྦེ་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ད་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་མི་བཟའ་ནི་འདི་བཞགས་དགོ་ཟེར་གསུངསམ་ད། ད་ང་ག་ཅིག་བཟའ་ནི་དེ་འབད་བ་ཅིན་ཟེར་སླབ་ནུག་ འདི་འབདན་ང་འབད་མི་ཚུ་ཟེར་སླབ་ནུག་དུད་གི

    She even said “then I cannot do.” And then Buddha said “I will tell to all the people around the world to offer fist shaped food to you. It is going to be clean and will be offered in paper or a plate” said the Buddha and to which she said fine and then stopped eating human.
    ང་གི་ཡང་འཚོལ་མི་ཚུ་ཟེར་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་གསུངམ་ད་ ད་སངས་རྒྱས་ད་ང་ག་ཅི་བཟའན་ན་གསུངས་དགོ་ཟེར་སླབ་ནུག་ འཚམ་གླིང་ནང་མི་ག་དེམ་ཅིག་ཡོད་འ་ནི་ཚུ་གི་ལྟོ་བཟའ་ནི་འབདཝ་ད་དྲོཔ་དང་ཕྱི་རུ་ ཁོང་གི་ཡང་མ་བཟའ་བའི་ལྟོ་གཙང་ཏོག་ཏོ་ཨ་ཁམ་བཞགས་ཟེར་སླབ་གེ ཏེ་འ་ནི་འདི་བཞགསཔ་ད་ས་ཁར་མེན་པར་པད་སྡེར་ཡང་ན་ཤོམ་འདབ་ཡང་ན་ཤོ་གུ་ཁར་བཞགས་འབད་ཁྱབ་གཅིག་དྲོན་ཟེར་སླབ་གེ་ཟེར་གསུངས་ནུག་ལོ། དེ་ལས་མོ་གི་ཡང་བཏུབ་ཟེར་སླབ་འབད་ སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་བུ་འདི་བཏོན་བྱིན་ནུག་ དེ་ལས་མི་བཟའ་ནི་ཡང་བཞགས་ད་ནུག་དུད་འདི་གི
  • ལལ་བཱ་དུར Lal Bdr
    When there are people lined up to go to heaven (Dewa-Chen), this Dakini would not let them to go. If we have offered her food before every meal and if we have made known then we will get to go Dewachen faster.
    ཏེ་མི་ལེ་ཤཱ་སངས་རྒྱལ་ནི་འབད་སྡོད་མི་ཚུ་ག་རང་ཅིག་ཁར་མི་བཏང་ལོ་ རེ་རེ་འབད་བཏངམ་ཨིན་ལོ་བ་ཏེ་དུད་འདི་གི་ དེ་འབདཝ་ད་ག་རང་གཅིག་ཁར་མི་བཏང་ལོ་ དེ་འབདཝ་ད་རེ་རེ་འབད་བཏང་དགོ་འབད་བ་ཏེ་དུད་འདི་གི་ཡང་། ཏེ་ངོ་ཤེས་མི་ཡོདཔ་ཡང་ན་དྲོཔ་དང་ཕྱི་རུ་ཨ་རྟག་རང་ལྟོ་གཙང་ཏོག་ཏོ་འདི་དེ་འབད་བྱིནམ་པ་ཅིན་ ང་བཅས་ཀྱི་སངས་རྒྱལ་ནི་འདི་ཧེ་མ་རང་འཐོབ་ལོ། ང་གི་ཤེས་མི་འདི་འ་ནི་ཅིག་རང་ཨིན།
