The songs that the roofers sing are all related to dharma. But there are certain songs that they can't sing these days because of political reasons. There have been some changes in the songs too. Most of the songs are basically the same, but some are sung in the morning and some in the afternoon. The main reason they work on the roof is to make the roof flat and even so that the water does not get puddled up in one place. Most of the roofers are women, and according to the roofer leader, it is because the women are more creative and have a stronger affinity towards songs, and so forth. However, she does say that some of the hard work which requires physical strength is done by men.
