Choden from the Trongsa District sings “The Majestic Beam Above” (Yar Lekpe Dingri), a spiritual zhungdra song that is popular in the Gangteng and Trongsa regions, but not so much in other parts of the country. According to oral tradition, the song was composed by the incarnation of Gangteng Trülku—Tendzin Lekpe Döndrup (1645-1726)—to facilitate the lifting of a huge and heavy roof beam at the occasion of the construction of Gangteng Temple. Though the song originated in the Gangteng Temple’s region, it is commonly sung in the Trongsa region since the two places share a border.
