This is a song performed by Dratul. Dratul comes from a local family of herders and learned songs from his family. He described them as pastoral songs (glu gzhas). From a later interview with some of the Sokhang Quintet, David Germano adds: "He sang songs sung when herding yak and sheep. This music is called 'nomad style' ('brog lugs), or 'Atak' music (gzhas a dag?). Evidently 'atak' is just a verbal sound that figures in the music." The singing is highly melismatic, starting low with glottal shifts to high crescendo.
